Hot tub workouts
Nowadays people are focused on eating healthy, getting into shape and staying fit. One of the best exercises when wanting to get in shape is swimming. This form of exercise offers the body a low impact routine that gives just about all of the muscles a complete workout. Aquatic workouts are fun and a great way to stay in shape.
However, not everyone has access to a pool where they can conduct a complete workout. Some people only have access to a hot tub because of the limited space available in their backyard. Do not let this get in the way of a complete aquatic workout. Here are some exercises that can be done in a hot tub or Jacuzzi spa:
Arm exercises
Sit down in the water so the shoulders are just at the surface. Slowly lift the arms up to the surface of the water and then back down to the sides. This exercise can also be done out in front of the body too. Another arm exercise is to place arms out from the body, just under the surface and make small circles with the hands.
Aerobics
Get the heart pumping and add some cardio to that hot tub workout routine. This can be done by holding onto the side and doing bicycle kicks or standing in the center and doing jumping jacks. Jogging in place can also help get the heart going.
Leg lifts
Stand up in the center of the spa and slowly lift the legs to the front, side and back. Then return the leg to the starting position. This will help build muscles in the legs and loosen up the hips. Another variation is to bring the knee as far up to the chest as possible, hold and then release.
Stretch
The warm water of the hot tub will help loosen up the muscles. This will help make stretching easier. Prop legs upon the side and stretch them out. Do small lunges to help stretch out the legs. Use the space to help stretch out as many muscles as possible.
